Mil Spouse Friday Fill in #2

Today kicks off week 2 of "Wife of a Sailor's" milspouse meme questionnaire so here are my answers:

1. Tell us about your dream job… one that you could do regardless of pay.
My dream job would have to be a fashion buyer for a retail store or owning my own boutique, & if it was the later of the two I would sell vintage inspired fashions. After working retail for a few years, and managing a clothing store for 3 years, I can honestly say I am in love with fashion! Although I didn't dig the rude customers, working holidays & weekends, or working for possibly the worst company ever (in regards to how they operate, their procedures for running the stores, and most of all the way they abuse and could care less about the employees) however, I did love my job, and I was damn good at it! I loved the atmosphere, & I loved seeing what was new and beautiful everyday when shipments came in. Floorsets were my favorite time because we would re-arrange the entire store and create new wall themes and floor designs. Adding in displays with shoes, accessories, luggage, purses etc was one of my favorite parts and I was really good at doing new floorsets. I loved helping customers pick out outfits and seeing how happy they were when I helped them find something they adored. I also loved dressing the mannequins, it gave me a freedom to experiment and try out new looks, and I always loved the results! For me fashion is more than something I enjoy, its a passion. I would love nothing more than to be the person who chooses what items a store will carry. Although this is my "dream job" I also love being a wife and want to be a Mommy someday, so my "navy wife," lifestyle doesn't exactly mesh with that career. As a buyer I would be traveling a lot (depending on what company I worked for), and its a very fast paced life style. I would have a fabulous career and a job that I love, but the question always remains, "Would I be able to have a family and be able to be a good wife to my husband?" When it comes down to it that is more important to me than a fabulous career, I would rather be a fabulous wife and mother!

2.What is your most prized material possession (kids and pets don’t count!)?
My number one prized possession would have to be my wedding ring, not only because its beautiful, but because it symbolizes the love my husband and I share. My other two most prized possessions would have to be a fiery opal necklace with diamonds around the edges, (that my husband gave me last year for my birthday) as well as a vintage glass powder container that my best friend "A" gave me for Christmas two years ago. Its absolutely gorgeous, and was given to me in the original 1960's Avon packaging! "A" knows how much I love anything vintage, so it was a very sentimental gift for me. It was originally owned by her grandmother's & it meant so much to me that she passed it along to me. She is such a sweetie.♥ Here is a photo of it, I use it as a jewelry box.

3. What has been your favorite duty station and why?
I can't exactly answer this question since we haven't lived together near any duty station yet. We have spent the last year with my hubby going through training and now his first deployment, so we have yet to have a full on experience with a permanent duty station. I am however moving to Virginia in 3 weeks exactly, so hopefully I'll like it out there. :)

4. What is your least favorite household chore?
For me I would say cleaning our bathrooms and showers are the chores that make me cringe! Having a man around the house means more dirt than you could imagine, so when hubby is home this is not fun! Other than that I don't really mind any other chores, I like the end result after I've been on a cleaning rampage.

5. If you could give one piece of advice to a teenager today (not specifically a MilTeen), what would it be?
My advice would be, "Be who you want to be, and always strive to be the best version of yourself." Don't base who you are as an individual off someones else's expectations, live you're life for yourself! Also I would tell them to never forget the importance of family, because in the end they are the "friends" that will always be around to help you and love you no matter what.

  1. You are one of my bloggy soulmates girl :) I LOVE fashion too and one of my dream careers is to be a buyer too!! I can't stand retail at times (it's made me hate the holidays and a lot of people), but I love coming in to work floorsets and being ahead fashion wise. It's so much fun! I ALSO can't stand cleaning the bathrooms and showers. And of course, you know how excited I am that you're moving to Va Beach. You're gonna love it. :)

  2. Great advice for teens! Too many teens are so misguided and young women like you really need to continue to show them examples of strength, beauty and sheer awesome-ness!

    Happy 4th!

  5. Great answers! I love getting to know everyone every Friday! And I hate cleaning showers too. I swear I can have industrial strength mold and mildew remover, and I still find gunk in the corners.

Hope you had a wonderful 4th!
