Sunday Dinner!

Today has been a wonderful rainy day at home and I wouldn't have had it any other way. :) The Mr. and I slept in until 9 am and I've been busy doing things around the house all day. I made some delicious french toast, eggs and bacon for breakfast and then immediately started on our "Sunday Dinner" for tonight.

Before I moved to Virginia I asked my grandmother for a book of her best recipes so I could carry on the tradition of her delicious southern cooking. Tonight I decided to make one of my favorite recipes she sent me..."Carol's Beef Tips and Noodles."

This recipe is so simple and delicious that every time I make it my hubby is begging for seconds. Its fattening, but Oh sooo worth it!

So here goes...
Ingredients:
2 cans Campbell's Cream of Mushroom Soup
2 Round Steaks (about 1lb or so each)
1&1/2 cups water
Flour for dredging
Oil
I bag of Egg Noodles (16 oz)
Salt & Pepper

Sounds simple enough right? Thats because it is!

1)Start off by cutting the round steak into bite size chunks. In a tupperware or bowl mix flour, salt and pepper together. (You can add as much salt and pepper as you want. I don't really measure this part.)
2)Next you will put the steak chunks in the flour mixture until they are evenly coated on all sides.
3)Using a large non stick pan heat oil and cook the meat until its evenly browned on all sides. Add more salt and pepper if you like. (I always do!)
4)Once the meat is done cooking place it in the crock pot and cover with the lid. Next you will add the 2 cans cream of mushroom soup to the drippings left in the pan, along with the 1&1/2 cups of water.
5)Mix together on medium heat until thoroughly blended and the gravy looks smooth. Add salt and pepper to taste. (Yes, I am obsessed with salt and pepper! I like to have alot of flavor so I don't measure it I just taste test and add more as it needs it.)
6)Once the gravy is done pour it over the meat in the crock pot and mix it all together. Cover with the lid and cook on low for 6-8 hours, stirring occasionally.
7)Once you are ready to eat heat a large pot of water and cook the egg noodles. Drain noodles and shake off excess water.
8)Once they are drained, add the gravy and steak on top of them and you are done! :) Now you can go enjoy a wonderfully fattening dinner, and your hubby will be sure to ask for more!
Once dinner was ready The Mr. and I sat down together at our lovely little table and got our grub on. Here are some pictures to show you how much we enjoyed it!
He couldn't eat it fast enough! ;)
This is just one of the many delectable recipes my Grandmother gave me and every time I make it I think of her. :) Here's a snap shot of me while I was cooking...Being a Domestic Goddess is Grand! ♥

What are some of your favorite family recipes?
