Blog Design and Name Change

First off, I have been dying to get a custom designed blog layout with all the goodies (banner, sidebars, font, signature and a custom button) for some time now...I'm just having a hard time choosing a designer that is affordable and that I really like. Do you ladies have any suggestions? I'm seriously considering going with Brea from "Utterly Chaotic Designs" because I really like her style and the price is super affordable. However, I'm still open to other ideas, so if you know of any good blog designers drop me a comment with a link to their site and I will definitely check it out.

Speaking of blog changes I am thinking of changing my blog name but am unsure if its a good idea since everyone already knows me as "A Day In The Life of A Navy Wife." I just want something more original and maybe not affiliated with the military at all...I like to blog about fashion, movies and my life experiences and I would like to broaden my horizons and get some new readers, and maybe changing things up a bit would help. What do you think?

I've decided that I'm going to start brainstorming  tonight and narrow it down to my top 3 favorite blog names. This week sometime I will dedicate a post where you, my readers, can have the chance to vote and help me choose my new blog name! :) Exciting stuff right? Well lets hope I can get creative and find a new name that fits my personality and blog...Wish me Luck!!! ♥

  1. I got my layout from Brea. She's super easy to work with, and she'll keep changing it until she gets it to be exactly the way I wanted it. She's a total sweetheart!

  4. I changed my blog name not that long ago and am so glad that I did. I felt that my 'military' name sort of limited me in my writing. Even if I did still write about anything and everything.

  5. I never had a military title- that's not the only aspect of my life. I fully support a change in title because you are so much more than "just a navy wife"! I think some people fall into the trap of friending every military blog and I know for me, I shy away from some of them if theyare too in my face, because I don't feel that overwhelming sense of "this is all I am".

I can't wait to hear what you come up with :)

  6. I design them for free for my friends. If you go look at my blog you will see my design. No I'm not done with it. I want to add more things. But working full time and designing my friends blogs I can only do so much. Mine is simple and clean. But I do it for free for my friends cause I know php and other code and can do it. And don't want them paying for it.

  7. Figuring out a blog name is always so tough! I just barely changed my name to what I have now and I am always still thinking... Anywho, I usually tweak my own blog layouts, so I am sorry I don't have very many good recommendations. Good luck finding someone who will do the trick for ya though. :)

  8. Jessa and Elizabeth- I feel like my title limits me. I mean being a "crafty boatswain's mates wife" does kind of limit me to only write about things navy related and craft related.
I want to change it, but I'm not sure to what yet. I don't have as many followers as Miss Brittney here so it wouldn't be too drastic if I did anyway! :)

  9. I got my blog design from Brea and she did an amazing job! She's great to work with and does amazing layouts! When I first created my blog I thought about having a military title but then I thought what is one thing I have in my life that in constant? Oh, distance. I'm always away from someone I really love and care about so I figured pick a title off of that. If you choose something that reflects who you are then the blog becomes more personal. I can't wait to see what you come up with!

  10. I also tweak my own design layout, but as for the name change I say definitely go for it! People know you as this, but you can temporarily put up a little button or something that says "Formerly..." until people get used to your new name. Can't wait to see what you come up with!
