Moving Madness

Yesterday the movers actually showed up! I know, can you believe it??? I really couldn't at first..lol. There was only two of them and it literally took them half the day to get everything in my house and get my furniture set up. They were pretty nice...but one of the movers was a stinky Russian guy (Not that I have anything against Russians, but this dude smelled hard core!) and I could barely understand a word he said! That made things a little confusing when I was trying to check off the inventory sheet, (cause I could barely understand what numbers he was saying) but we got through it all eventually.

Most of my stuff is in tact, except for my vacuum cleaner...which I am royally pissed about. We just bought it in February and I was so happy that it was going to be here, because I love to have my house vacuumed every week, and it drives me nuts not to have one. So of course its just my luck that my vacuum was the one thing that really got messed up. I don't know what the heck they did to it, because the driver wrapped it up and padded it (I saw him do it in CA) but when they unwrapped it here it was falling apart! It literally won't stay put together...and its only made up of three pieces, but the handle on the top of the vacuum wont stay connected to the bottom piece, and the container for the dirt keeps falling out as well!!!! Grrrr...I think its missing a screw or something but I won't have time to fix it for awhile. If that doesn't work I'm gonna have to file a claim and try and get reimbursed for that vacuum.

I can say however, that I am very thankful that the rest of my big furniture made it here in tact! I was so worried about my dresser or mirror getting broken, and my bed frame. Thank God it made it here safely, and last night I got to sleep on my amazing pillow top mattress!! I haven't slept that good in almost a month!! Last night by the time the movers left it was 6 pm and I was exhausted...I only had time to unpack about five boxes and ended up staying up until 12:30 am. I am not digging how little our kitchen cabinets are and the fact that we don't really have a place to put any of our food that doesn't go in the refrigerator. We hardly have any room for all our pots and pans and dishes, so I'm gonna have to move things around and see how I can make it work.

After my crazy day with the movers I decided to go to the commissary to pick up some things I needed for this weekend. That was a big mistake and I can honestly say I have a love/hate relationship with the commissary!!!!! I will tell you all about my commissary nightmare later on today, but for now I am off to take Tulip for a walk and run some errands! I am also super stoked because we are getting our house phone set up tonight and I am expecting a call from my hubby later on tonight!!! :) Its been over two weeks since we talked on the phone, and I can't wait to hear his voice!! :) Anyway thanks for reading and I hope you all have a beautiful day! ♥

  4. Yay! Glad to hear you got your things in one piece, mostly. Our kitchen cabinets suck too. Do you have a broiler on your oven. I put some of my pots and stuff down there. And stuff I don't use often I stuck in a hall closet.

  6. I can't stand it when something is broken after a move! BLECK! I hate filling out that paperwork to get your money back for the item because they always happen to "misplace" it, and never end up paying you for it.

I also can't stand the commiSCARY!

Hope your getting settled in good!

  7. I am so glad things are getting better! First moving adjustments are always so frustrating, and I am talking about experience of moving from apartment to apartment on the same campus. I can't even imagine moving across country without your hunny. You're so strong girl.

  8. I'm glad everything arrived! Good luck with unpacking...I recently moved alone (hubby is deployed too) and it was a lot of work, but worth it in the end when you see your beautiful place all set up, ready for your hubby!
