Mil Spouse Appreciation Day!

So as most of you already know today is Military Spouse Appreciation Day...I know to most people it might not be a big deal, but to me it means A LOT. As a military wife there are so many hardships we endure as the wife of a service member. It's a hard and often times very lonely road we are traveling, but somehow all the brave and loving Mil spouses just keep going! I can't even put into words what I have been through personally in the last year in dealing with the military, but I can say that having other military wives who offer kind and encouraging words has helped me TREMENDOUSLY!! So I would like to use this post as a way to say thank you to all the Mil Spouses out there who work so hard to stand by their men and stay strong! You are truly an inspiration and I am proud to say I am also one of those women. We stay here and wait patiently for our HEROES to come home to us once more and as Mil Spouses we also SERVE!! We are the definition of a strong woman and I believe wholeheartedly that God has chosen us to be Military Wives because he knows its not a job for just anyone! He chose us because we are SPECIAL!!! So THANK YOU my dearest Mil Spouses for all your many sacrifices and dedication!! YOU ROCK!

The Joys of Being a Domestic Goddess!

So I don't know exactly why but lately I've been feeling very BLAH! And I don't mean in a sad way, I'm quite happy right now...I just can't seem to put my finger on whats bothering me. I feel exhausted all the time and easily irritated....(pms maybe? lol) I've been feeling this way for a few days and I'm hoping it passes. Anyways I'm on a search for a darling anchor apron to start my collection and add a sense of style while I'm in the kitchen, and so far I haven't had any luck! :( The way I figure it is if I'm going to be in the kitchen I might as well look like a Domestic Goddess while doing it! :) I did however come across this very cute vintage inspired red and white flowered apron as well as this very cute cherry apron....Aren't they darling? I might have to choose between one of these two but I really was hoping to find a cute vintage inspired anchor apron... :( Oh well! Anyways I would love to hear what you all think and as I won't be getting it anytime soon I have plenty of time to decide before hubby comes home. Let me know which one you think is cuter!

Wistful Wednesday!

So as many of you know alot of fellow bloggers partake in the "Wordless Wednesday" posts, where they simply post a picture and write a tiny snippet underneath...BUT since I like to be different sometimes I thought I'd call mine "Wistful Wednesday" seeing as Anastasia and I are counting Wednesdays together! And seeing as how every Wednesday since we started this I day dream about my hubby coming home and actually moving to Virginia, I thought the name was very fitting. Anyways...On to the reason for this post as of today there are only 11 Wednesdays until I move to Virginia and  "roughly" 14 Wednesdays until my hubby steps off his ship and into my arms!! Ahhhh its going to be glorious and I can hardly wait!! ;)

XOXO,

P.S. My Mil knows how much I LOVE Hello Kitty and since I couldn't get my cake topper like I wanted she had these specially made and shipped all the way from China! It was so sweet and I love them!! :)

Mil Spouse Blog Hop!

Ok so I know I'm a few days late on this but I figure better late than never... So heres a little info about me...My name is Brittney and I'm 23 years old. I'm currently awaiting the return of my hubby from his first deployment and its definitely been an experience! I love my sailor with all my heart and can't wait until he is back home and in my arms!! :) I am getting ready to move across country (2700 miles to be exact, from Ca to Va) and will admit I'm pretty nervous about moving somewhere new and completely starting over! But I will say I'm pretty darn excited! And now a little about me and my family...I am one of four girls and I love my mom and sisters dearly!! My mom raised us on her own and showed me what it means to be a strong woman. I love music (all kinds, but especially oldies and big band/swing) and have always LOVED to read. I'm fascinated by history and am currently going to school to become a teacher. I'm almost done with my associates degree and am only a few classes away from transferring to a University and starting my upper division courses...I'm excited and just want to get it over with already!! Lol! I have always loved all things vintage, especially the clothes, hair, makeup and just the style in general. My mama always told me I have an old soul...when I was growing up I always asked for Frank Sinatra cds as well as Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday for my birthdays or Christmases...lol. Theres just something magical about the music from that time period, no one makes music that sounds that good anymore. I also love to shop and fashion has always been one of my passions. I love seeing new styles, or vintage inspired pieces and putting outfits together. I worked as a manager at a womens clothing store for three years and I think thats where it all started...I've loved it since the day I started there. I'm still new to being a mil spouse and i guess you could say I'm still learning the ropes. My hubby and I haven't been that fortunate when it comes to our experience with the navy and sometimes its hard for me to remain positive and keep my head held high. Hubby left October 2009 for bootcamp and we've been apart ever since....its been SEVEN long, lonely and excruciating months. We were supposed to be able to move and ACTUALLY BE TOGETHER once he graduated a-school but as soon as we recieved his orders we found out he was being deployed asap to the Middle East. Needless to say my heart was broken and I went through the deepest, darkest, depression of my ENTIRE LIFE!!!! The only thing that helped me get through it was my Lord and savior Jesus Christ and my supportive family and friends. Without them by my side I don't know where I'd be. I am happy to say that I am doing much better now and feeling more comfortable with my responsibilities and sacrifices a mil spouse has to deal with. We are nearing the half way point in this deployment and I'm so relieved that its almost over!! We still have a ways to go but counting the weeks makes it seem less far away. And having this blog has helped me enormously...I've met so many sweet and inspiring women who encourage me to keep going and be strong. I am very thankful and it helps me to read about other Mil spouses going through some of the same things I'm going through. Well thats all for now and I'm glad to have shared some of my story with you! God Bless and have a wonderful day!!

Beach Days...

Today is a BEAUTIFUL day here in sunny southern California and I'm really wishing I was at the beach!! My good friend (and fellow navy wife) Anastasia invited me to come down to Oceanside, but since I can't get my butt down there I thought I'd post some pics for her to cheer her up!! I wish I was there with you and we were soaking up the sun together...it would be quite lovely! I fully intend to get down there in the next two weeks so you better be ready for some serious tanning!! I hope you like the Pics Aiya and I hope your having a better day!! Love you!!

2 Month Deployment Mark!!!

Thats right people...Today we have reached the 2 month mark of Hubby's deployment!! I feel so accomplished and am Happy to say there is roughly 3 months left until my Hubby comes home!! :) This deployment has been a bumpy ride but I am glad that we are almost half way through it!! I would say that even though its hard being separated we are still as much in love as ever, and that our marriage is growing stronger. I have so many good things to look forward to in the next three months and I can't wait to see my husband step off the boat and into my arms! Hope you all have a delightful day!!

Rumors...

So the past few days my hubby has been in port, and we've talked more in the last four days than we have in the last two months! It was amazing but also hard and makes me miss him even more than I thought possible! During the course of one of our conversations this week Hubby informed me that there was a "rumor" going around the ship that their deployment might be extended until October!!!! Ugghhh seriously?!? Navy...WTF??? Now when my hubby told me this my heart immediately sank and I felt as though I might fall over and die right there. I know, I'm being dramatic...but seriously I'm already teetering at the brink of insanity dealing with all this military b.s. and now this?!? I'm trying to hang on and be optimistic but it seems like every time I turn around there is more bad news! :( I need something to look forward too and August has been the month my heart is set on. I know this is just a "rumor" but I'm still praying it isn't true! I really wanna spend our first wedding anniversary together (August 29th) and just see my hubbs in general! I mean he's been gone since last October...isn't that long enough? :( Anyways please pray for us that this does not happen cause whether he comes home in August or October I am moving to Virginia Beach in July to get our apt set up and enroll in school. Wish me Luck everyone...I'm treading water here trying to make it through this deployment!!!!

The Not So Lovely Bones

So today or technically yesterday, (seeing as its after 1 am) was a crazy busy day....but a good one. My hubby called around 8 am and started my day off with a smile. :) I love hearing his voice so much and I'm so thankful to hear from him so much this week. After we talked for awhile I got ready, paid bills and went to work for a few hours. Then it was off to run errands, and home again to clean (vacuuming and dusting my room as well as laundry!! :( Bleehhh I hate doing laundry....I always drag it out as long as possible...lol.) Anyways my Besty came over and we headed over to my sisters house and decided to have a fiesta night, complete with ground beef tacos, homemade guacamole, chips, salsa and beans! Let me just say it was delicious and as my friends call me "Lupe" because of my obsession with mexican food, I was happy as a clam. :) So we decided to rent "The Lovely Bones" to watch after dinner. Since its based off a book and had an interesting storyline i figured it would be worth my time. I was WRONG. Not only did this movie seem to last forever but I absolutely HATED the ending. It just sort of leaves you hanging and thinking "Did I really just spend two hours watching this crap?" I won't give anything away but for those of you who haven't seen it or heard of it, its about a 14 year old girl who is murdered by her neighbor in 1973. Her body was never found but the police assumed she was dead. Her spirit is trapped in a sort of limbo, but it seemed more like an acid trip to me. She can't seem to let go of the people in her lives and her family goes through utter and complete turmoil as the result of her disappearance and assumed death. The man who killed her was the biggest CREEP ever and I seriously wanted him to suffer!! Am i a bad person for saying that?!? Lol...Cause honestly the movie made me so mad and I just wanted him to rot in prison and become someones wench!! He sat there and watched the family suffer, and it honestly made me wonder how there can be such psycho people in this world. I know its not based on a true story or anything but still, it gave me the creeps! So anyways the moral of this story is that this movie was a big thumbs down for me... :( I really thought it would be better but i honestly felt like it was a waste of my time. If you are curious, rent it and see for yourself! And if you've already seen it, well then you know what I'm talking about..Lol. Thats all for now...Good night everyone! :)

The Navy Wife

P.S. The girl was pretty creepy too! lol
